Dunston give away points again..

24th October 2015
EBAC Northern League Division 1
Jarrow roofing 5

Dunston UTS 2
.
Dunston were on their travels again to play Jarrow Roofing in the EBAC Northern League. Roofing are currently in mid table and getting some creditable results while Dunston are in the recovering from a blip in results but two victories at home were a step on the road of recovery.

.
Manager Billy Irwin has however got injury and players holiday problems leaving Dan Halliday (groin), Dale Burrell (shoulder), Alex Francis (knee), Craig Hodges (knee), Adam Wilkinson (honeymoon), Steven Harrison (holiday) and Dan Smith (suspended) all not available but has been out and resigned Gary Shaw (Durham City) and Stephen Goddard to enhance the squad. With so many experienced players out the side looks to depend on young Fisher and Richardson doing a job in midfield, while Kai Hewitson gets a full team start up front and Gary Shaw slots into left back.
.
Dunston started well and Morien got the first chance which he shot over the bar after Hewitson laid off on the edge of the box, and then Hewitson was played through but goalkeeper Regan blocked his shot. Jarrow settled and put pressure on the Dunston defence which coped well. On 8 Pearson (M) received from Hewitson and tried a cross when a shot would have been the better option. A minute later a Thear free kick was headed clear of goal and then Dale Pearson turned and shot wide of the near post from the edge of the box.

.
Jarrow replied with a shot wide of the target by Hedley. On 14, Shaw cross the ball was returned back to him but he was crowded out and could not cross again. On 15 a corner fell to Richardson whose shot was blocked on the line. A minute later and Morien headed a free kick from Martindale into the net for 1- 0 to Dunston, However this was short lived on 20 Hedley crossed into the Dunston 6 yard box Chow headed, Connell stopped the first attempt but an alert Chow poked home the equaliser, immediately from the Kick off Shaw put in a low cross which was cleared for a corner, from the corner Richardson at the post was able to back heel a shot into the net 2-1 to Dunston.
.
Again Jarrow replied quickly on 24 as Connell and this defence failed to clear a long clearance allowing Chow to roll the ball into an empty net 2-2. On 25 Michael Pearson tried a shot from 25 yard which went just wide of the near post, before once again the Dunston defence failed to stop Barns driving into the box and played in a low cross which Rundle was on hand to turn into the net 3-2 to Jarrow. Dunston tried to recover with shots from Fisher on 28, but Jarrow were now confident and Connell had to stop a Rundle headed effort with the help of the post on 38 from a free kick. Just before half time Morien made his own space to shoot but Regan was able to collect.

Goddard came on for the injured Thear at half time, but Jarrow got the first chance of the second half as Hedley played a cross /shot which went past the far post. Hewitson limped out of the action on 50 replaced by Dan Halliday and the team was reshuffled again. On 52 Martindale headed a Pearson corner narrowly wide and Richardson a minute later shot wide of the far post, before Richardson got in a header from another Pearson corner, Martindale was able to retrieve the part clearance and his low cross was claimed by the goalkeeper.

.
On 60 Rundle shot wide of the Dunston far post and a minute later Marshall shot from 25 yards into the Dunston net for 4-2. Nothing seemed to be going right for Dunston and heads started to go down despite a Richardson shot on 64 which was blocked and cleared and a Goddard cross was headed behind by Errington. On 75 , on as substitute Keiron Wrightson collected 18 yards out centre of goal and shot wide, Dunston running on low energy tanks could only reply with a Goddard cross into the area which was dropped by Regan as but reclaimed as Michael Pearson raced in.
.
On 79 Chow, a thorn in Dunston’s side for many past games got his third as he picked up on a loose pass in midfield and slotted past Connell form 18 yards and it was 5 -2 to Jarrow. Connell kept the deficit with two good saves from Wrightson on 90 minutes and Chow in added on time with saves to shots low down to his right and just inside the post.
.
Final Score: Jarrow Roofing 2 Dunston UTS 2
.
To many forced changes left Dunston with a depleted side and despite scoring to lead twice they never looked like holding the lead. Jarrow to their credit plundered the rocky Dunston defence and look advantage of some very loose play to score their goals. Overall this was the worst performance of the season against a side that were beatable on another day.
.
Dunston’s Man of the Match: Unable to select as most players were down in a very poor performance were team spirit was again lacking
