Dunston welcomed Penrith to the UTS Stadium for a home league fixture. Penrith are currently just clear of the relegation zone with games in hand while Dunston after recent results are slipping down the league into mid table.

It was a slow start to the game with neither side threatening the goals until the 10th minute when Connelly turned in the box 8 yards out and shot wide of the near post. On 12, Liddle headed back across goal towards Francis whose shot bobbled to the waiting Taylor. 3 minutes later Davidson shot from 18 yards out and Connell saved. On 20, Connelly again had an early shot which was deflected for a corner.

Dunston Rallied on 22 when Luccock fed the ball across the pitch to Liddle who turned his marker and shot on target but Taylor saved. 3 minutes later Luccock was played into the box with only Taylor to beat his shot beat Taylor but went wide of the far post. On 31, a Dunston free kick was played into the area and Wilkinson headed across to Luccock his shot hit the keeper and went for a corner, from the corner a Luccock header was cleared off the line at the back post.

On 35, Richardson was found by a long ball diagonally across the pitch free on the right wing, his cross, come shot was deflected for a corner. From the corner Wilkinson headed the ball home for the opening goal to Dunston. On 40 minutes Francis put a 22 yard free kick over the bar.

Half time score: 1 ‐ 0

Dunston came out in the second half, looking for a second goal and on 47, Richardson hit a swerving shot just outside the near post and after a neat interchange of passes on 57 resulted in Pearson getting a shot on target which Taylor took low down. Penrith replied on 58 as Connelly crashed in a 25 yard volley which Connell somehow managed to tip out of play for a corner, 2 minutes later Connell was in action again preventing a Hope header with a one handed save on the line. On 64, Dunston got their second as Richardson was again fed in on the right of the goal and this time his shot beat Taylor.

Penrith instead of their heads going down rallied as Dunston appeared to take their foot of the pedal and on 69 Connell made two saves before the ball fell to Connelly in the six yard box to shoot home 2 – 1 to Dunston. Penrith continued to push and on 77, should have got the equaliser as Waterston only had to side foot home a pass from Connelly, but his shot from 10 yards went wide of the far post.

On 86 Penrith got their equaliser, as Dunston seemed to be content with just clearing their lines but Penrith still continued to push them back, as a free kick was played into the area and an unchallenged Davidson got in for a header which went into the net. Dunston still did not have any answers and on 89 Connelly again popped up in the 6 yard box and turned a ball into the goal from 6 yards as Dunston defenders failed to clear. Dunston were beaten 3-2 as the referee called an end to the game
