Dunston welcomed Jarrow Roofing to the UTS Stadium for a home league fixture. Jarrow are currently just above the relegation zone while Dunston after recent results are slipping down the league.
.
Dunston started well pushing on and in the first minute a Francis free kick was cleared from the Jarrow area. On 5, a Francis corner was firmly headed by Wilkinson against the bar from 6 yards and the rebound was cleared, Jarrow replied on 10 minutes, with a run by Myers, after he was played in, and was only stopped by a great sliding challenge by Gilhespy on the edge of the box. Play then became a midfield battle with Dunston mainly dictating play but not getting any shots on target, the next chance came on 35, as White got in a header which was stopped by Connell’s legs. Dunston replied on 36 with a Richardson Cross being met by the head of Thear which the Jarrow keeper, Regan, saved. On 42, a Jarrow attack saw Williamson’s shot from 20 yards deflected off Francis for a corner and just on half time a Richardson header was collected by Regan.

Jarrow created the chances at the start of the second half and on 48, Barnes shot over the bar from 20 yards and then on 55, a Rundle corner was headed over the bar by Paxton. Dunston’s first chance of the half came 2 minutes later when Thear again headed a Richardson cross on target but Regan saved. On 78, Morien dribbled into the Jarrow box, but before he could shoot was tackled by Laws and the ball went out for a corner. On 85 Richardson controlled on the edge of the box and laid off to Francis who shot the ball over the cross bar. Dunston tried right up to the final whistle and in the third minute of added time a Morien shot was blocked and went for a corner, from the corner taken by Francis the ball was headed over by Pearson.

Dunston Man of the Match: Dan Smith, his all-round performance after a spell out through injury was very much appreciated, and Connell also made an important save to keep Dunston in the game. This was another missed opportunity by the Dunston side which again lacked shots on target to trouble the opposition goal keeper who had a fairly quiet game.
