.
Dunston were on their travels again this time to Ashford in Kent 330 miles away so the team and some supporters began the trip at 12:30 pm on Friday and stayed over at Maidstone , a quiet night for the players but yet another enjoyable night in the local hostelries for the supporters. Ashford play on a 3G surface so for the third game in a row Dunston will have to master the surface against FA Vase opposition.
.
Dunston still have players out through being cup tied, but have signed Josh Clark in mid week from Spennymoor, to again strengthen the side. Liam Thear is left out of team but on the bench as he is injured, stitches in the shin, as a precaution. Ashford started strongly and forced Dunston on the back foot on what was an unfriendly surface for the Dunston players against a strong wind, on 10 minutes Palmer picked up from loose Dunston defensive clearance and swung in a cross to Welford at the back post whose header back across Connell went in at the far corner to give Ashford the lead.

.
Dunston were fighting a losing battle against the pitch and the wind until after 30 minutes when their fortunes changed and they narrowly missed getting the equaliser, Ashford still pushed on and tried to get a second but did not trouble Connell. The second half started with a big chance as Palmer broke but his shot was blocked, Dunston were immediately on the attack and Burrell shot over after Richardson had laid off the ball at the edge of the box.
.
Dunston started to control the game from 50 minutes and on 62, Francis played a ball into Morien in the box, Morien played the ball to Guerin who shot home from 12 yards and the equaliser. Dunston now were in control, but with the wind speed dropping and the odd breakaway by Palmer, they could not get the winner, although there were efforts from Richardson who hit the base of the post on 77, and into the side netting on 85 from a Francis corner after Harrison had a shot turned over the bar by Kamurisi. As the game went into added time a Morien free kick went wide and just before the full time whistle Morien played a shot across goal only for Kamurisi stopping the ball low down at the front post and the game progressed into extra time.

Full Time score. Ashford Utd. 1 Dunston UTS 1
.
Dunston almost broke the deadlock on 94 as Guerin played in Richardson who laid off to Harrison who burst into the box only to be forced out of play, on 95 Palmer again shot wide, before Francis shot from 25 yards, over the bar and then Pearson had a cross punched clear by Kamurisi as far as Richardson whose shot was blocked and cleared. On 100 Phillips could not divert a Scoburgh cross goalwards at the back post. On 101 , Morien shot wide from in the box before Francis shot across the charmed Ashford goal.
.
On 109 it looked odds on a goal for Dunstonas Morien turned on the edge of the box, rode a tackle which made him stumble as Kamurisi came out and blocked colliding with Morien in the process, the loose ball was cleared And both Morien and Kamurisi were Cautioned for the Melendez that followed. On 113 , Connell made a match winning save as Booth jinxed his way to the edge of the Dunston box and released a drive shot that he pushed up in the air and then collected.

.
Dunston pushed on again and Morien swept a Burrell cross past the near post, before a Smith cross was cleared as far as Pearson shot went in on target UT was saved. In yet another Ashford breakaway Palmer played in a low cross which was deflected wide for a goal kick. Dunston again tried to force the winner but it was not to be scored as Palmer again broke away on long clearance which was only stopped by a good challenge by Gilhespy.
.
Extra Time Full Time score. Ashford Utd. 1 Dunston UTS. 1
.
Dunston Man of the Match: Steven Richardson, Spedy's link up play was a main source of Dunstons opportunities which were not taken. The team performance was good after a shaky start and going a goal down they battled and should have went on to win the game, Ashford could not match them in the second half and were restricted to the odd long ball clearance and Palmer runs on the right wing but all in all Connell's goal was protected by some solid defensive work.
.
